1 - General presentation

.

FIPWatcher is a FIP WorldFIP protocol (spybus) analyzer that displays all the frames running on the FIP / WorldFIP network. Many features make it possible to analyze the frames. The FIP / UDP service is used to send FIP frames on the Ethernet UDP network. The frames are sent with "life or comfort" informations from the equipment.

This version is unidirectional and transparent so as not to be seen by the FIP network. The bi-directional version is accessible via the FIP-OPC UA module and the mPCIe FIP arbiter card.

This card in mPCIe format is compact, it fits into systems with mPCIe slot.

2 - Material part

FIPWatcher mPCIe consists of 2 parts. The mPCIe card and the speed card.

2.1 mPCIe card
.

The mPCIe card contains the main component IGLOO2 of Microsemi. It provides communication and processing between the FIP network and the mPCIe slot of the embedded system. The mPCIe card is connected to the speed card by a tablecloth.

2.2 the speed card

The card can be supplied according to the standard FIP bus speeds: 31.25 kbits, 1 Mbits, 2.5 Mbits or 5 Mbits.

The card includes in option free 2 SMA connectors (welded or not soldered according to customer request):

- An output oscilloscope output, very useful when you want to connect an oscilloscope without disturbing the FIP network.

- A sync socket to position itself on a FIP frame specified by the operator (for example starting an acquisition on an RP_DAT frame ...)

The speed card is "customizable" to be able to integrate into different types of on-board equipment or proprietary equipment, please contact us to adapt the speed card or the front panel of your equipment.

3 - Software part
.

The card comes with FIPWatcher on Linux (Ubuntu, Debian or CentOs...).

The software part of Fipwatcher is located in the FIPLabs FIPWatcher Analyze section. The software displays all the raw frames, analyzes and statistics of the FIP data.

With the help of a web server ( Webmin for instance or other client configuration interface, WEB administration interface of the remote system), the user can set the FIP UDP service, set the system time ...

In industrial installations, FIPWatcher mPCIe remounts all FIP frames over Ethernet, encapsulating other data of "comfort or life" of the equipment such as temperature, memory or processor utilization rate ...

The remote device receives the UDP frames. To decode several possibilities:

- Use HMI FIPLabs

- Use Wireshark dissector

- Business application (customer integration)
