1 - PowerFIP system

PowerFIP brings together a set of properties necessary for the operation of equipment present on the FIP WorldFIP fieldbus (IEC 61158 EN50170 )

2 - Why PowerFIP ?
The FIP WorldFIP network has undeniable advantages: proven and reliable, inexpensive system (no annual fee), cybersecurity, resistant to parasitic noise and radiation, real-time solution... Customers wanted to keep their network easy to use. Moreover, the chip previously used was in the process of obsolescence, which hindered the maintenance or the creation of new FIP installations.
For all these reasons, users want to keep this technology, they also want to new installation :+ speed+ distance+ flexibility+ interoperability+ sustainability
3 - PowerFIP hardware

The PowerFIP module developed by EXOLIGENT is available in different card formats, it integrates a core soft-CPU-RISC-V Its program is written in C and VHDL, it includes all the features of FullFIP2 with additional configuration and optimization parameters.

4 - Software
.
The PowreFIP library (C-API) integrates all the services to establish WorldFIP communication: writing/reading cycylic variables, messaging, network diagnostics, bus arbiter, etc...
The PowerFIP library integrates additional options to extend the distance, the speed or the size of the bytes. Other "customer" features can be added depending on customer installations. See overview of PowerFIP_API functions

5 - Price
PowerFIP is compatible with old installations based on FullFIP2 component, this allows existing networks to be maintained in place without replacing all network equipment.
The tarifs of cards with PowerFIP are cheaper than with cards based on FF2. Cards come with PowerFIP_API. The PowerFIP library and driver are included in the price, no more license key to enter.

6 - Compatibility / interoperability
.
PowerFIP is compatible with equipment containing FullFIP2, MicroFIP, NanoFIP. It is currently deployed on FIP networks comprising equipment such as Agate, RIOM, displays... However, extended functionalities such as frame lengths of 1024 bytes, distance of 130 km in optical fiber or even speed of 25 Mbits /s cannot be fully exploited.
Exoligent offers its customers who so wish, the migration of their old equipment to the PowerFIP solution (hardware + software). Customers can also carry out the migration themselves, in this case, Exoligent provides advice and support.
PowerFIP is supplied with various FIP examples, including a FIP-MODBUS gateway (source code provided) to establish communication exchanges with the MODBUS network (server).

7 - Sustainability
.
PowerFIP uses the actel Igloo2 component, the code can be loaded on other Actel components (or other brand according to customer request) in order to anticipate future evolutions of electronic components.
